Refrigerator Sizes

Before purchasing any type of fridge, it helps to know a bit about standard refrigerator sizes. After all, you don’t want to bring home something that won’t fit into your space, do you?

Some things to think about before you set one toe inside of any appliance store include: the size of your space; the type of fridge that you need; and how difficult certain refrigerators will be for you to use. If you happen to be rather short, a fridge that includes a high freezer may not work for you. If you have a small space, you can forget about those larger refrigerators. In short, these things really do matter. Once you know the answer to all of the information listed above, you can then start to look into refrigerator sizes.

Side-by-Side refrigerators are rather popular thanks to their useful design. This type of fridge includes a freezer that is right next to the refrigerator. However, it is important to find out how much room each side has prior to buying one. Think about the things that you normally store (large pizza boxes, lots of drinks, gallon jugs…) before you pick one. Standard side-by-side refrigerators usually range from 31 inches to 36 inches. Most of the time, these units are anywhere from 28 inches to 34 inches depth wise. Most of the time, this type of fridge requires a rather large space.

Next up is the freezer on top type. These units include a freezer space that sits directly above the fridge space. Width wise, these refrigerators range from 23 to 27 inches. Though the depths can vary, most of the time a top type fridge will range from 27 to 33 inches. These refrigerators tend to fit in almost any space thanks to their clever compact design. Lastly, the freezer on the bottom models are something to consider if you enjoy easy access to freezer compartments. Since this type of fridge is relatively recent, you won’t find a lot of models, though you will still find that most companies offer at least one option. These refrigerator sizes may vary, so check with the manufacturer before buying.

Width wise, bottom-mount refrigerators tend to be around 33 inches. Depth wise, these refrigerators tend to be from 32 to 25 inches. Height is something to consider, since most bottom-mount refrigerators are range from 66 to 69 inches high.

By now, you should have a good idea as to the various refrigerator sizes offered. It helps to do your homework before purchasing any fridge…this way, you can be sure that it will fit inside of your kitchen.
