Refrigerator Not Cooling

Are you having a problem with refrigerator not cooling? If so, there are some things to check immediately in order to avoid a larger problem.

The first thing to do is to check the temperature setting inside of the fridge. While this might seem like an obvious problem, the temperature must be adjusted according to the weather outside. If you turn up the temperature to find that the problem is still not fixed, it is time to check for other issues. The amount of air flow that the vents receive is another possible problem. Locate the refrigerators vents, and try to find out whether or not they are actually pushing air in and out. If not, you might have to call a repair man. Below, you will find other possible reasons why a refrigerator not cooling might happen.

Even if you have checked the temperature control inside of the fridge, this control might not be functioning properly. Testing the actual temperature control is a good way to find out if this function is working. Turn up the fridge, leave it alone for a few hours, and see whether or not the fridge has begun to cool. If not, this part of the fridge must be replaced. Other obvious problems might be a matter of replacing very simple parts. Most of the time, a fridge that loses cold air might be due to a faulty door seal. Door seals are very easy to replace if they are broken. Luckily, it is also easy to detect a crack or hole in the seal as well.

Wet a heavy rag with a large amount of soapy water. Run the rag around the inside of the door seal making sure to get rid of any build-up. Once you have washed the door thoroughly, use another rag soaked with clean water to find any bubbles. Wet the seal thoroughly looking for any small bubbles that might form during this process. Usually, bubbles will form where there is a crack. If this turns out to be the problem, simply head to the hardware store for a replacement part. Most of the time, a refrigerator not cooling problem is easily fixable.

Though the factors mentioned above might be the cause of the cooling problem, there are other possibilities. If you cannot find the source of the issue, contact a repairman within a matter of days.

The sooner you find out the cause behind a refrigerator not cooling, the better off you will be. Repair your fridge quickly in order to ensure a long appliance life.
