Portable Freezers
Portable freezers can be useful for a number of reasons. If you need to keep food frozen on the go, this kind of unit is just what you have been seeking.
As with any other kind of freezer, portable freezers must be durable, lightweight, and temperature controlled. Due to the fact that these units are moved around often, you must also be very careful when it comes to keeping food at the right temperature. There are some things that these units are capable of that aren’t generally found on regular units, but for the most part these models are largely the same as their larger cousins. Below, you will find some of the most important things to look for when it comes time to shop for that smaller unit.
While most of us would love to buy fresh food every day, this just isn’t possible all the time. Instead, we tend to buy frozen goods in order to keep our freezers fully stocked. The best thing about a portable unit is that you don’t really have to choose between a freezer and a refrigerator. Confused? You see, many of these models are both a fridge and a freezer wrapped into one. So, you can easily keep fresh foods, well, fresh, while frozen foods are kept…you guessed it…frozen. If you don’t want a two-in-one combination, you can also find a unit that just freezes those foods instead. Likewise, you can find some models that actually heat up food, though these may be slightly harder to come across (heating units tend to be on the smaller side).
Regardless of the type that you choose, all portable freezers are CE & UL approved, CFC free, easy to transport, and easy to clean. Some of these units even come with shoulder straps for those that are truly on the go. Many people bring these models with them when it’s time to go camping or move around town. Being truly mobile is perfectly fine when you have a mobile freezer, just remember to keep that temperature at zero degree Celsius at all times. The most important thing to keep in mind is food safety. Far too many people suffer from food poisoning brought on by faulty freezing devices…don’t be one of those people.
Once you have found the freezer that suits your needs the best, you can then start to think about keeping your food safe. If your unit does not come with a thermometer inside of it, make sure to purchase one. Also, if you plan to travel a lot consider purchasing a digital temperature alarm as well. This type of alarm will sound the moment that your freezer dips below that safety zone.
As you can see, portable freezers are great for a number of reasons. Find one that has all the options you want, just make sure not to skip that important thermometer.
