Commercial Refrigerators

Shopping for commercial refrigerators is a lot like shopping for the residential kind. The only difference is that you will have to consider the amount of food you must keep cold.

The first thing to do when considering commercial refrigerators is to check your available space. All too often, restaurant owners buy large units that cannot fit inside of the kitchen. Be sure that you can open all doors without obstructing any work area. To do this, measure the space along with the space in between your work area and the fridge area. Then, when you get to a supplier, measure the door with while all doors are open. The next thing to think about is the kind of kitchen that you are going to run.

If you are working on a catering business, you will need a fridge that can hold lots of large items. Large trays, various dishes, and a few gallon shelves will be ideal. A restaurant fridge should include some type of pull out fridge drawer that can hold various container items. If you intend to use a lot of frozen goods, you may want to consider a side-by-side model, though most restaurants are moving away from frozen products. To discover the various types of commercial refrigerators out there, it is best to head to a supplier that can show you a few different models. This is one instance where looking at a picture online may not do the trick.

You may also want to ask about maintenance for your fridge. Since commercial refrigerators are often quite heavy, pulling yours out to clean it yearly may not be so easy. Instead, try and find another solution to this problem. Ideally, the fridge that you pick out should be easy to move, easy to clean, and it should hold all the food that you need it to. If you have never designed a commercial space before, you may benefit from hiring an industrial designer. Though designers can charge a high price, they are useful tools given their vast knowledge.

A designer can measure your space properly, help you narrow down the selection, and find the right fridge for your needs. When designing an industrial kitchen space, you don’t want to make the wrong choice.

As you can see, there are a lot of things to think about when considering commercial refrigerators. Keep the aforementioned advice in mind at all times in order to select the right one.
