Dishwasher Troubleshooting

There are lots of dishwasher troubleshooting tips to be found online. Although dish machines are fairly reliable, they do have their problems just like any other appliance.

It is unrealistic to think that a dish machine will last a lifetime without any problems whatsoever. If you find that your dish machine is behaving erratically, you might want to do a simple test. Consider the way that you load your machine. Believe it or not, loading the machine incorrectly will cause the machine to act in strange ways. If you load and re-load the machine a few times to no avail, you can then start to look for some dishwasher troubleshooting tips.

Prior to working on your dish machine, you must do two things: remove any dishes that are inside of it, and cut off any electricity that is running to the machine. Many people feel that they do not need to cut the electric while working on this type of machine, but it is very important for safety reasons. Also, you should turn off the hot water in order to avoid burns. The hot water valve can be located underneath the sink. Finally, if you are going to poke around inside of the machine, do not work on it directly following a cycle. Various parts of the machine can be extremely hot, so be careful.

Some dishwasher troubleshooting ideas can involve the basket inside of the machine, the hoses that connect the machine to a water supply, or the seal around the door of the machine. To empty the food basket inside of the machine that might contain debris, use a wrench to loosen the bolts. Then, wash the basket thoroughly with soapy water. Return the basket to the machine, and run it again to see if the problem has been fixed. If not, try jiggling the water hoses that run into the machine. Sometimes, these hoses can become clogged. Lastly, if your machine is leaking water it might be due to a faulty door seal.

If there are any cracks in the door seal, you will have to replace the entire thing. Thankfully, this is an easy job that does not take too much time. You can buy a new seal at your local hardware store.

Dishwasher troubleshooting is a great idea if you don’t want to spend money on a repairman. However, you should always make safety a priority by turning off electricity and hot water before you begin to work.
